Stellar Achievements - Jamaica moving Up, Up, Up...

The People's National Party held their 76th Annual Conference over the weekend of September 20-21, 2014 and the following was noted among the achievements: On the macro-economic front. We are experiencing: • The narrowing of fiscal deficit; down from 6.7% of GDP in 2011 to a balanced budget in this financial year. • There is a growing primary surplus; we are comfortably ahead  of the targets. • We are importing less • Tourism arrivals are up by 4%. • International investors are coming to Jamaica because they are confident in our stewardship and in the new Jamaica that is emerging, and • Our recent re-entry into the international bond market was oversubscribed yielding over US$800M. The rate of spread while in theory is relatively low given the number of individuals who have now contracted the disease it can easily blow out of proportion if not adequately contained in a timely manner. Given this it has become a very  scary disease the world over in recent weeks . 1.   Easily transmittable :  Close contact or body fluids can lead to transmission. 2.   Reproduction rate:  1.5 - 2. Each newly infect person can infect another 1.5-2 persons within the time frame of contracting the disease and dying. 3.   Serial interval:  9-15 days. The data below is based on the World Health Organization (WHO) report on October 10, 2014. Countries: 7 Major: Guinea; Liberia; Sierra Leone.
